Here is an overhead view of the two hotels and their immediate surroundings. This includes McDonalds, Fatz, Waffle House, as well as a gas station per each side of the road:

Both locations are approximately 20-25 real time driving minutes from the track.

There are other hotels in the area, but these are by far the cleanest and newest. These two hotels are also 5-10 minute driving distance from downtown Camden which is a plus. All the other hotels I visited were old/dated, not as clean, and several were not in great parts of town.

I booked the comfort inn in Camben. Its funny I beleive under the rules PDF it states some where "no camping". I'll have to look back at it but at the time I was reading the Doc pretty intensively.

Edit: I havn't had waffle house in years. We may have to hit that up one night while were there.

 

^^ believe it does say no camping but hasn't been updated. Camping is where its at!

 

Thats what I was origionally planning to do with friends but we decided that SC in June was going to be muggy and hot. Therefor AC and comfy beds were decided apon. I do think I will be missing a lot by not camping at the track. Oh well.

 

There will be the usual hotel parking lot congregations but camping if where things will be nutso.

 

Is theft usually not an issue at these occasions? I wanted to take my ITR to WMHM in July, but I'm always weary of the seedy hotels we slum at. Or any hotel for that matter.

 

We have never had an ITR stolen at an ITR Expo, but that doesn't mean those parking at hotels arn't vigilant. Keep in mind there are always people in the hotel parking lots after track hours. If you are still weary about theft, that is all the more reason to camp. 24/7 security on site. No one goes in or out without going through security.

 

Yeah, I figured camping would be more secure. I just don't know how down I am to camp. It's fun and all...but going back to the hotel and sleeping in the A/C and taking a luxurious dump and decadent shower in the morning is awesome.
