not sure if i read this right but.... did you say you "left" your pop off steering wheel in the car while you were away from it?
The whole point of a Pop off steering wheel is to TAKE it with you so no one can just drive away without your or a compatible steering wheel.

You have to do something a little more creative than removing the steering wheel. If they case your car, they'll just find another wheel. Having a way to lock the hub in place would probably do more.
I have been told "The Club" doesn't do much, apparently they're easy to remove.
Making the car harder to break into would be your first line of defense. New tumblers that aren't wore out, a guard over the rods inside the door for the latch to the handle, parking in a well lit, busy area. Then make it hard to move. Kill switches, and things like The Club.

another good idea
Tumblers are the mechanism that the key goes into (lock cylinder). Hondas tumblers tend to wear out, allowing any honda key to open the door at times. Replacing tumblers is pretty easy to do and i believe there is a good write up somewhere around this site to do so.

This has got to be one of the dumbest things I have heard in a while. You buy a removable steering wheel, to help prevent someone from stealing your car, and you get the steering wheel stolen because you left it in the car? Well I guess it worked because they didn't steal the car now did they?
lol @ people thinking a detachable steering wheel is meant to be a theft deterrent. god damn morans on honda tech lately.

I always take my quack releese with me everytime i park. even at home. may i suggest alarm. you can get a cheap alarm for about the same price of the quick release.
i thought about this once when i had a removable NRG steering wheel setup with the locking hub. how would i drive the car if i lost my key. the only options i could think of is a huge locking pliers, two strap wrenches, or slam a oil filter wrench on top of the locking hub, and use a welded ratchet to steer back and forth.... these are not ideas for a thief to try, but sometimes you need to think outside of the box to protect yourself, and find flaws in the system. So now you need to think, is it really worth it to spend X-amount of dollars into a locking steering wheel setup? Also don't forget, if they want it, they'll get it. No matter what the cost is.

What is the point of this thread? Nothing is theft proof. There are only deterrents and means by which to slow a thief from actually getting your property. Alarms are not theft proof either but if you had an alarm would you leave your key fob remote in the front seat?
Whether you think they are deterrents or not, to leave a removable steering wheel in the car after you take it off is just not smart. Why take it off in the first place then?
