Okay, so decided to change my mom's headlight bulb when we were out of town and it went out on her '04 Pilot. Managed to drop the little screw which holds down the retaining clip and couldn't find it in the dark and wet. So I used some fishing line to hold the bulb secure until I got home, then I picked up some metric machine screws and nothing worked, even though the size appeared to be correct. Do they use standard or some other thread pitch?

I feel like a bloody ****** that can't even change a god damned lightbulb haha

 

You werent supposed to take the screw out in the first place. The spring clip releases without taking the screw out. Its a short tapered screw, not a machine screw. Try a really short sheet metal screw.

 

#6 X 3/8" pan head sheet metal screw worked for me
(course thread not fine if you have a choice by the way)
