Good Price? $2k for a '99 LX Auto Sedan w/ 120k Miles... hail dmg slvg title
My sister's boss will sell me his 1999 Honda Civic LX sedan automatic w/ 120,000 miles, for $2000. The catch is it has a salvage title. It was totalled by the insurance company by hail damage. The hail damage is light, though. The car has about 5 rather small dings on it. I'm under the impression the car will need to be taken to the highway patrol inspection site to have the title changed back from a salvage title before the car is re-registered. I test drove the Civic today. I don't believe there to be anything wrong with the vehicle except the passenger door lock isn't under the control of the power lock button. The seller claims he had the timing belt changed at 90,000 miles. I'll take the Civic down the street to the Frank Ancona Honda Dealership for an inspection before I make any decision.
Do you think $2000.00 is a good price to pay for the Civic with the salvage title?
I told the seller I would call him tomorrow(5-19-11) to let him know what my decision is.
Once it's a a salvage titled car it will never lose that title! There's no goin back to "clean" after it's salvaged. An I don't think 2k is a bad price provided the damage isn't that bad
I wish it was a manual hatchback. I'd love to trade it for a manual hatch. Well, he's firm on $2k and I can't find anything that price for the year and mileage on CraigsList. I guess i'm buyin it.
I'm aware the title will never be clean again but can I register the car in my name on a salvage title in kansas or do I need to have it inspected by the highway patrol and turned into a "rebuilt salvage title" before i register it at the DMV?
