cb7 engine swap ideas
i have the regular f22a4, ive come to realize that i cant get enough power out of it. I was wondering if i could swap it with an F20b, it seems to be the most affordable dohc vtec i can find. If you have any other suggestions please tell.
depends how much power your going for h22 and h23 are both direct swaps. h23 is non vtec of course putting out about 160 at the crank while the h22 is vtec and puts out about 200 at the crank (220 for jdm models). those 2 swaps seem to be the most popular. dont think you have to keep it within the f series to keep it affordable.

You guys really just need to search. Even a simple Google search would yield the results.
And I'd be very surprised if a F20B was the cheapest DOHC VTEC motor you could find........
im confused on the OP's intentions. do you want power or vtec. you can get a b series engine with close to the same hp as a f20b and that wouldnt be vtec. i dont understand what the hype is with your vtec intentions. if you want vtec save your money and get an h22 so you get a decent amount of power and a fairly easy swap.

of course you wouldnt, i never said that. i said the b series dohc motor non vtec produces the same power as an f20b so why waste your money on vtec if your not going for vtec with power which is why i made my point in saying your the best off with the h22.
Re-read the post - You're focusing solely on HP and ignoring torque. I also think you may have a misconception as to what VTEC is, since the second part of your statement doesn't seem to make much sense? You would not ever be wasting your money on VTEC as that would be an upgrade in every situation I can think of?
the motor might be affordable but ive heard its a pain in the *** to find performeance upgrades for them.so u'd be limited the upgradeable power for an "affordable" price(which is what your whole post was about).
I know this thread is a month old, but I laughed at the first few posts.
Anyways, boost the F22 or Go DOHC VTEC. I recommend either the JDM H23A VTEC or the JDM H22A. Both does great in performance and with enough aftermarket parts supported.
