Default Dorman Hood Release

Hello all first time back on here in a long while but anyways, I broke the hood release on my 97 coupe so I went to Autozone and bought the Dorman replacement. I brought it home and installed it being very careful to note how it routed and where all the little clips went and re-routed it exactly how the original was. After I got everything put back together I went to pop the hood and it was almost impossible it was so stiff, and the lever wouldn't pull itself back in after i popped it. I searched the forum and only found one old thread about this so has anybody else had this problem and did you find a solution? Thanks in advanced for any help.

enter button... hit it.

can you adjust the cable? as in loosen tension?
everyone has a busted latched eventualy. jus rig up a piece of cable and keyring to pull it

The actual wire cable doesnt feel very tense at all when I have the hood popped open, but the latch is stiff even then and I would figure the handle shouldn't have any tension at all at that point.

man an oem honda one is like $20 bucks. but my guess would be your hood latch is partly siezed proably why it broke in the first place spary it with some good penetrating fluid and work it back and forth.

It could just be that the Dorman one isn't very good. That is one particular part where I could not have used anything but OEM.
