I'm considering getting a set of Skunk 2 coilovers for a 00 civic coupe, just looking for some feedback from people who might have used them in a same setup...

I also need new shocks, I feel mine are dead, so thats also another issue.. But I'm just trying to see what people think about them as I have some other suspension setup options...

 

Are you looking at coilovers? or coil sleeves?
i have them in my 93 hatch.
The skunk2 s2 coilovers with my road conditions, i with i would of chose a higher spring rate, because i feel all bumps badly. Handle corners smooth at high speeds, overall seem decent, but always better for the $.

budget wise? progress series or the koni/groundcontrol combo. best bang for your buck.

 

The best bang for the buck are Koni/Ground control at $800.

The next down is progress CS-II (which I have) at $580.

You can't go wrong with either of those. If you can't afford the Progress CS-II you should wait and save up for them. There's a wonderful vendor thread in the marketplace with tons of feedback from daily drivers, auto crossers, and HPDE folk praising progress.

Progress and Koni have been in the business for a long time. The only skunk2 product I'd buy willingly is their valvetrain. Even then I'd rather have a custom grind done.

 

I currently have the Skunk2 Pro S Full Coilovers v2 and have really enjoyed them, when I'm driving on good roads. Unfortunately for me, I live in central south texas and ALOT of gravel/uneven and simply bad roads around here. So they are rough as heck and you can feel almost every bump, basically make sure you goto the bathroom before taking a long trip.

Handling is amazing on them, however I've also added the lower control arms, rear lower tie bar, front/rear strut tower bars and front/rear cambers (all from skunk2). Running with Yokohama S.drive 205/45R-16, have them adjusted/lowered to where they are nicely tucked into the fenders. You have to be really careful though, before I had them adjusted correctly they would rub/wear out the inside fender wall.. leaving a hole in it. So had to replace that once I got them adjusted correctly, now I can fully turn while on rough road conditions and I'll get no rubs.

Overall though, I really like them and probably will stick with them. The only other option would be to go with Pro C, personally I'm not a track/rally racer.. so didn't really see the point in goign the next step up, the Pro S work just fine and cost around 700$

 

Pro S are that much?

For another $100 you could get koni/ground control and you'd get a lifetime warranty on the shocks.

I don't know why when there are lifetime warranties to be had people are so quick to get something different.

 

I have skunk2 slips on's. For what they are, and how much I paid for them, they are fine.

 

i got Skunk2 coils on koni yellows, its a bit harsh but bearable mind you this is the shocks on full soft

 

I meant sleeves... not full coils!! If im going to go full coils it would probably be the GC/Koni setup... But I also have heard that "Megan" has a good set for a good price...

 

No they don't. Progress CS-II is the best thing under $800.

Good warranty, phenomenal customer service.

I've spoken on the phone with their reps for 20-45min intervals. Almost everyone working their has been racing for years.

You can pick your rates, with megan you can't.

Replacement parts for CS-II's beyond the warranty are cheap. ~$65 for a new shock, $90 for a set of springs. So even if you'd like to have 350/250 for winter/daily driving and 350/500 for autocross season you can do that. Just swap the springs.
