Default Transmission Quote

I was quoted by a local performance shop $1,900 (w/o tax) to do a automatic to manual swap. $900 gets me a used S1 transmission and all the swap parts (shift linkage, blah blah etc) and the rest is all labor.

Is this a good deal? I own a 1990 Integra LS.

Also, I'm looking for a short-geared transmission. I live up in Canada, which model should I be looking for, YS1 from 92-93 integra? Help is very much appreciated!

the swap is eazy .i have down this swap 5 times and it was a 2 day thing not rush taking my time. just buy a parts car for 500 or 400 and buy the auto to manual mount which cost 120( i have a brand new one for 100 for sale) and here a good link that walks you through the swap https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-6/1990-1993-integra-automatic-manual-transmission-conversion-2304301/

Get a YS1 tranny if you can, they're a lot tougher and you can still get parts for them.

But I heard the YS1 is an LS tranny and has long gears, this true? My plan down the line is ls/vtec turbo I thought getting a b16/short geared tranny would be the first thing to do.

Some are, all '92 - '93 Integra transmissions are stamped YS1, but the GS-Rs have shorter gearing, very close to a B16A. Also I believe some of the JDM B16A cable trannys were YS1s. Btw, you can swap hydro guts into a YS1 case, in other words you can build something like say, a cable ITR tranny with all OEM parts even though such a thing never existed from the factory.
