Default Excessive Heat from Timing and AFR Settings

Does adjusting ur timing and/or air fuel ratio to run lean or rich cause the engine to run hotter? And what settings (advance vs retard and lean vs rich) would cause it to run hotter?

Leaning out your air / fuel ratio makes your engine run hotter, as will advancing your timing.
