D16Y7 ECU
Let me clarify, you CAN chip an OBD2 ECU but but ask yourself, or better yet SEARCH, why people have to chip OBD1 ECUs when they boost or run heavily modified engines. You can either do that or run an expensive piggyback unit like the AEM. It's just not cost effective. And if you plan to slap on bolt-ons then you are wasting your time and your money. D-series are sloooooow. Period. Boost it or swap out the engine.
Yeah I knew the chiping of the ecu's was for Turbo D -Series and B16, B18, etc. I have access to all equipment at work, fine-pitch soldier equipment ,chip programers, etc. So I wouldn't be wasting any money. I just was curious "Would there be any benefit to chipping a non-vtech D16Y7 2000 civic dx ECU?" But you answered my question. Thanks man
