Exhaust manifold Removal???
90 CRX DX. I need to remove the head and was wondering the best way to disconnect the exhaust manifold? Do i just need to unbolt it from the head or is there more? I imagine i can just leave the distributor and intake bolted until the head is off? Thanks
unless you have a flexpipe built in you will need to disconnect the header at the cat beneath the car, and also remove the 2 bolts in the support bracket near the oil pan. after that remove the bolts at the head and slide the exhaust out of the way.
If it is OE, you should be able to unbolt from the head, and unbolt the second pipe. If not, do as D16 suggests.
If you are going to take the intake off with the head, dont forget to label all of the connectors.
Other things to take off - timing belt, throttle cable, fuel rail, clutch cable, upper timing belt cover.
Whatcha doin?

Burnt valve. No compression in cylinder 1. This is an automatic with 2 injectors, Economy car, 85000 miles, Not sure the extent of the damage? Running rich. Cooked cat and lost compression. Maybe carbon built on valve letting unburned fuel into exhaust? Engine still turns over but wont start.
