Hey H.t.
I have a few questions about witch hawk brake pads would suit me better for a daily driver and occasional drag/windy road car with oem rotors. Also how long do they last?
Thanks

Honestly depends on how hard you run them. I have hawk blues on my dads track crx and they last about two weekends of abuse before they need to be changed. The crx is running an integra suspension. Spindles and what not. Have you considered something like EBC yellow stuff? I ran them before the hawks and they lasted longer, but just didnt stop as good as the hawks do now.

Wow ive had my car for over 2 years on the some unknown brake pads and ~40k miles with countless canyon runs and close to 100 drag strip passes. I guess ill just end up getting some brake pads from auto zone. This is my first time changing brake on my car sine ive bough it so i wouldn't know about EBC yellow pads.
Thanks
Hawk Ceramic pads here. 4 years, probably over 50 autocrosses, and 35k miles later, I've finally worn them to the point where the squealer is letting me know it's getting close to time to change them. There's also 4 HPDEs on the rear pads, but I ran HP+ pads up front for those...
Absolutely love them too. Completely silent, even though I didn't use any anti-squeal compound on them, and nearly no dust at all.
I'll be ordering another set soon. They're great street pads.

Oem pads and oem grade pads are a very hard compound because they are designed to last about 50,000 miles so keep that in mind. I know there are a lot of people that run hawk blues on their street cars, but I cant say how long they last. Maybe try the ITR forum. I think some of those guys run blues if Im not mistaken. Just put your flame suit on first. Lol

I've been using Hawk HPS pads for the past 3 years. I daily my car and have done 2 hpde's and a few autox's with them. For the street, they're great, but I will need something more aggressive now that I do hpde's.

Called up a local kragen and they sell the EBC pads. He said that there equivalent to hawk ceramics. If they have the EBC yellows. I will pick up a front set. Rears still have a lot of meat on them from the looks of it.
Thanks
Thanks
Can you link me to the website were you are going to order your pads. Ive read a few reviews were some folks were having issues with them not lasting more then a few 30 min runs at the track. Maybe this was on C5 corvettes etc. Did sime reserch on the EBC yellow brake pads. To expensive at almost 100$. I understand that what you pay for is what you get. Also how will they be on OEM rotors. The rotors wont get chewed up from the harder brake pad compounds.
Thanks
Thanks
Not because they have the best price (no clue on that one) but simply out of a desire to support them.
Novice and poor drivers tend to over use their brakes on track, causing all kinds of braking issues. Be careful listening to people claiming brake issues on track, their issues could very well be entirely the driver's fault.
Also, notice I swapped out to HP+ up font just for heat concerns on track. Never had heat issues, even on 105* days...
I also run Autozone Duralast rotors, and just replace them with the pads.
I did neglect to mention that I have hawk blues on the rear as well. They usually last about 2 seasons. Lol. I have no idea why but the car has very little rear bias. Best of luck to you.

As far as turning rotors, they're cheap, just buy new ones if they're worn. The only valid reason to turn / resurface / whatever rotors (these days) is if there is absolutely no way you can safely bed new pads to them. Assuming that you bedded the last set of pads properly, and didn't overly abuse them while cold (this is how most people ruin their rotors), the rotors will crack from heat cycling long before they ever need to be resurfaced.
If you want more braking power, get better tires. If you want more initial bite for competition purposes, that's when you look into race pads. If you need more heat tolerance, again, for competition purposes, that's when you look into race pads and fluids.
Either way though, your tires entirely determine your "braking power". And if you aren't using R compound tires, pretty much any brake pads will be sufficient for a reasonably skilled driver.
My HPS pads and blank rotors have been on since 2005. They have about 50,000miles on them. They have been to two ITR Expos.

Um, you shouldn't have need of anything more than stock parts for that. If you do, you need to learn how to drive (see my previous comment about novice and poor drivers)...

I wish i could afford some real track days butt back country roads will do for now.
A single track day is cheaper than most people's insurance deductible.
And the best reason, a single track day with a good organization will provide enough instruction to take a "noob" and turn him into a comfortably fast intermediate who doesn't kill the brakes...
Keep it off the public roads dude. You never know when someone's mother / daughter / wife is coming around a blind corner. Don't be "that guy" who only learns a lesson after accidentally killing someone...
Dammit, now I sound like some cranky old man. I'm only turning 32 next week, stop making me sound like this. Oh, and get off my lawn!

I could not GAS, if you wrecked your car or yourself for that matter, it's the innocent "bystander" you are likely/eventually going to hurt or kill that I worry about.
I do sound like a cranky old man, because I am, they don't call me Old Fart for nothing.
Oh yea, I have been using Hawk pads for 7+ years, on Power Stop cross drilled/slotted rotors, now on my 3rd set of pads and 2nd set of rotors, [first set of rotors were stock] but I do autocross all summer.
BTW, GTF off my lawn, don't let your dog **** on my lawn, don't park in front of my house, put your cat on a leash, take your garbage cans off the street and if you are not Canada Post, stay off my property or I will have my 120lb dog **** on your leg. 94
i had hawk hps pads on my civic coupe for over a year with no problems. i changed them because i drove like an asshat one too many times and they started squealing, and my autozone pads were still ~1 year old. before the summer officially starts i will have another set on my car. just make sure you have brand new rotors, and break the pads in properly.

Ditto that^^^ pay for track time, or find a local autocross club to learn how to drive, it's a lot cheaper and safer then public roads.

And to ure last response.. WTH..?lol
That last post would be FCM acting his age. Lol. I believe he is in his 60's. Definitly one of the senior memebers, but also one of the most knowledgeable because of the amount of experience he has.
I do those, about once a month. Very cheap way to get the "need for speed" bug out of the system.
Check SCCAs website for more information on auto-x and HPDE. There are also many other groups that do HPDEs as well, including NASA.
