Speakers cutting in and out..
ok so heres the problem. the after market stereo in my 98 gsr was working fine for the last couple months, I had just got the ball joints and stabilizer links done, and new belts put on.. so things were moved .. but not specifically electrical
I got the car back and the speakers cut out the next day, but would work again after powering the deck ON, and OFF. then the speakers stopped completely. THAT night my dash lights stopped working too. I was only a couple blocks from home so i parked the car and while walking away I noticed my amber turn signal marker was burnt out.
the next day i pulled out my marker and there was a crack. it was FULL of water and i assume was the culprit for shorting out my dash light fuse.
so I replaced the front marker bulb, and dash fuse, and patched the crack. stereo initially worked. checked the illumination wire from aftermarket harness (after reading some posts on this forum).. it is NOT grounding out.. speakers worked at FIRST but now nothing. AGAIN
i have an adapter harness that plugs into the factory braid, and all the connections have been properly soldered, so there is no loose, unconnected wires. i checked the DECK itself.. pulled the fuse in the back and THAT was fine, then i put it into another car and it worked fine there too.
So to be clear the front and rear speaker channels will either cut in or out or not work at all, BUT the subwoofer is still responding. I thought it could be a bad ground.. but then why would the stereo still work? with sub? any halp??
UPDATE: It would seem to be a bad ground or relay.. but i still am at a loss. One morning when i went out to my car the CLOCK was reset. (the battery is FINE btw, had it on a tester)
It will cut in and out sporadically while driving; ONLY when i hit bumps! so from the factory wire harness where do the grounds meet so i can check them>?
I've already checked fuses 27, 28, 30, 43 and 47 .. but they look fine.
where under the dash do all the common grounds meet? and are there other relays i've missed to check them aswell
1st post btw!
