taking painted side moldings back to plastic?
Dont no much about auto body, so just bear with me. i got a 98 ek hatch with painted side moldings and their starting to chip like crazy.Im wanting to just rock them unpainted to match the side skirts. So i was wondering if there was a way to remove the paint without screwing up the plastic? sry if this is a repost..
you can get paint stripper for urethane parts at any paint supply shop. I strongly recommend removing the plastic trim pieces from the car first. If you get the stripper on the metal painted pieces it will take it right down to bare metal, it will also soak through tape/paper so taping off the car won't work either.
while at the paint supply store you may want to pick up some bumper and trim black, comes in a spray can, i forgot the actual name of the stuff but they'll know what you mean at the paint store.
