Default ED8 CRX seat into an 88 ED3 Sedan help

sup everyone, i picked up a mint CRX drivers side for my 88 ED3 sedan and I'm having trouble as i type this!! i read that i can swap my sedan seat pan with the Rex seat and it will bolt right up..but i wouldn't be able to have the back rest because the Rex back rest doesnt bolt up to the sedan pan!

p.s...I'm i going crazy or did i read false info stating the pans will swap and all will be fine..

What year is the crx seat from? If the seat is 88-89 crx it should work, however, if the seat is from a 90-91 crx you hve to use the passenger side seat. The year differences use the same foams but for the 90-91 they swapped the foam/pan sides. If you look at the part number on a 90-91 civic or crx foam it will say RH. Please note thaat the foams aaare different between civic and crx but the principle is the same. Also I'm not 100 percent sure for the crx seats if the seat layout is 88-89 like the civics, or if it is 89-91 due to the seat belt on the door. Either way let me know what year seats nd the exact problem that you are having.

however those are the 90-91 style. Possibly find a seat pan from that, or use a teg one. Or get creative with some metal and bolts. OR ask him how he did it in a PM. It never hurts to ask another sedan driver.

I had this idea...

maybe that will work for you if you don't have a welder.

the issue isn't the foam fitting, it's that CRX backrests are different than the civic ones so he can't even do a pan swap without it looking all messed up. teg seats are set up the same as far as the backrest goes, pans are probably worse to swap into a sedan but i have no clue. i'm more a crx/hatch guy myself. GL.

this should be the #1 civic mod. the crx seats feel perfect in the sedan..i managaed to fit the seat in using one rail..just to see how it looked

Canadian_EF hit the nail right on the head. the crx back back rest hinge is just too wide for civic pan. I put the civic rails on the crx complete seat and it was still about a half inch narrow.. I'm not sure what the year was of the crx but i did a search on the seat and the head rest seems different.
