rpms needle jumping around, running rough

Default rpms needle jumping around, running rough

i noticed the other day i was merging onto a highway in 3rd gear and went to get on it alittle bit and the rpms started going all over the place and and then started to buck, i let off of it then strated driving at crusing speed and it was fine but i could still se the needle kinda floating around....any ideas?

Any CEL codes?

When were the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor last replaced?

Remove the ICM from the distributor and have an auto parts store test it.

just a code for low cat efficncy...which im kinda thinking maybe a tune up would be needed, possible misfires for a long time could hvae damaged the cat..but i just got the car not to long ago
