helloo i have a b18c1 that was in an integra when i started it up it made a loud screeching noise *hurt the ears* like something was grinding so i turned it off to make sure i dont dmg anything it has 200k on the motor it had oil in the motor. i pulled the motor because im planning on swapping it in my civic but before i do that i want to know what that noise was from thanks. also any pointers on what to check and replace on the motor that would save me time and money in the near future would help thanks! and yes im a noobie

The "screech" on start up is most likely a loose belt, it will make a hell of a ugly sound.

Do a compression test.

I would replace timing belt and water pump while engine is out. 94

 

 

You might also check your alternator belt... Also check to make sure you timing belt tensioner is working properly! I would replace water pump and oil pump as well relatively cheap and could save you down the road! If you replace timing belt I would go with OEM Honder which can usually be found on marketplace or ebay. Gates also makes a timing belt kit which has timing belt, water pump, and new tensioner and spring.
