My speedometer didn't work when I got the car. It sometimes stays at zero, sometimes jumps around erratically, and sometimes works. Just recently I had a brake issue where something was sticking and I had it fixed. This seemed to make my speedometer work a lot more often than it used to. It now works about 70% of the time where as before it worked about 10% of the time. I don't see how those things are related.. maybe it was a fluke. Idk. But i want it fixed. I had the speedo sensor that goes in the tranny behind the engine block replace twice with no real noticable difference. Check engine light never came on.

Is the VSS CEL code thrown?

 

Sorry I forgot to mention there is no check engine light on. It never came on. Although the ABS light is on. But Idk if that is related.

Try swap out the speedometer from any eg

 

Had the same problem replaced the vss not help so replace the speedometer from another eg now it's working fine

 

Alright I'll hit up the junk yard, grab an EG speedometer, replace it, and see if that works. Hope I don't grab a bad one! (:

 

If your VSS is not the culprit, the problem is most likely your Speedometer PC board. Usually with VSS problems the speedo will either work or it won't. Your PC board can be fixed. I can repair it for you with quick turn around time and good pricing. I'm a Honda/Acura tech in NC full time and repair electronics in my spare time. Give this a try, if this dont work i would suggest replacing the cluster
