Car: 1999 Honda Civic CX Hatchback

Symptoms:
-choppy throttle (random episodes, works fine sometimes)
-idle stalls (the car randomly stalls in traffic sometimes)
-long starts (take a few extra cranks to start than originally)

Recent changes to car:
-1000w rms amp sound system (4 weeks ago)
-distributor changed (2 weeks ago)
-fuel filter changed (1 week ago)

Any advice would help. I have a 16 hrs trip planned in 2 weeks and need a running car. Thanks.

 

Check your main relay. Is your fuel pump priming 10 times in a row? Do you have intermintant primes??

 

When I turn the key to ignition, I hear the relay click, then the fuel pump priming for 2 seconds and then the relay clicks again.

That's it. Any other tests I should do?

 

Problem solved.

The culprit was an old remote start installed by a previous owner that was cutting into the ignition wire. Remove it and repatched the wiring and it works great now.
