Default help friends car overheated

Hi i was looking for some advice. I searched and read up on a few things. First off my friends car overheated badly. She didn't notice it and it ended up dying on her. So far i've checked for spark and fuel. After reading on someone elses problem, i realized the quality of the spark was more orange than bright white. (the car needs a jump and that was tested off the weak battery idk if it would make a difference or not).

Other than that im pretty much stumped on what i should look for or try next.
Compression test? Motor sounds like it has no compression.

Im also thinking about changing spark plugs and wires and was also reading that possibly could have warped the head or need a new head gasket. Any help is appreciated THANKS!

What is the car,year, motor (D16, D15, B series ?) and mileage.
Check the dipstick any oil or water in oil ?
Check the radiator any coolant, any oil in coolant or coolant reservoir?
Original thermostat?
Hondas when 10 years old and overheated are usually head gasket problems or cracked heads or blocks. Maybe you're lucky and it's just a bad radiator.
Compression check will tell you a lot.

its a 95 coupe, it has a sohc zc in it. I haven't checked the oil dipstick yet. Radiator has like no coolant in it. It sounds like it has no compression when trying to start so i'm pretty sure something got cracked/warped. Whats the best way to tell if i have either a cracked head or block?

Compression test. Leak down test. If she overheated it untill the point of dying then it will most likely need a head gasket and get the head milled. Im sure its warped. You wont always see oil in the coolant or vise versa.

Disassembly and inspection and still hairline cracks can be hard to find.
Just doing a head gasket and shaving the head is a gamble.

I've replaced a D16Z6 and paid $1500 installed for a low mileage engine and kept the old engine for a possible future total rebuild for boost.

This is when old civics become cheap. Blown engines are great for DIY'rs but you still need machine shops to do it right.

Does the motor turn over?
You need to determine how the coolant was lost.
Leaky radiator, leaky hose...damaged block/head. It's kind of difficult to tell from what's been posted.

Put more coolant in the radiator. Make sure it has oil. Clean off the plugs, or temporarily put some known good ones in.
Try and give it a jump, then report back with what you observe.
