OH HELLO!! i have a 2000 honda civic si. i just bought it and now i noticed that when i floor it, theres a weird burning smell. the guy i bought it from said that the car was sitting in a garage for 2 years before he sold it to me. i checked my oil, but its not going low, its normal. there is white smoke coming out of my exhaust. i looked inside the coolant reservoir and it looked good except i could notice some reflection (the kind that oil gives off rainbowish kinda thing). also i opened the radiator cap and saw about 3 tiny black dots that could possibly be oil. iono if my exhaust is old or if i have a severe problem with the head gasket. i took out the spark plugs and noticed that the first 3 plugs have oil at the tip but did not have a socket to pull out the spark plug itself. the car does not leak any oil or coolant. could i have a blown head gasket? blown rings maybe? or do i just need to replace the spark plug seals? if so, what could be that bruning smell??? THANK YOU

Coolant coming out the exhaust will have a sweet smell, if it runs pretty well, I would not suggest a problem with the head gasket, a tune up after sitting that long and a change of fluids should be done as soon as you can.

Yeah, first thing I'd do is drain any gas that was remaining in the tank. Then I'd do a full fluid flush and tune-up. New spark plugs, new fuel filter, new air filter, oil/filter change, tranny flush, coolant flush, etc etc.

Do that and then let us know if you still have those symptonms. 2 years is a pretty long time.

so you guys are sure theyre is nothing wwrong with the head gasket??? even with all these tell tale signs?? thanks

i used up old gas, put in new 91, flushed out old oil, put in new synthetic oil, and new filter. there is no sweet smell from the exhaust but alot of smoke comes out when i rev it at high rpms. thanks

also, the day after i bought the car, i smogged it and it passed. however i later checked the dipstick and there was barely any oil in it and i accidently put in 6.5 quarts of oil in it. i drove it about 25 miles like that without knowing and gunned it a couple times but only up to like 3rd gear and the next day i had it drained, could the gasket be blown because of that?? the engine has about 60k oem motor

No, the worst thing that could happen is the engine would feel like it is missing power due to oil hitting the rotating parts, but even that is a long shot.

Overfilling would cause the oil pan gasket to seep, and if it does it shouldn't require replacement, simply spray any seeping oil off and your good.
