88 crx dx sputtering and running lean!
ok guy thanks for looking and please help me end this nightmare. i bought this car off this kid it was throwing the tps code so i was like f-it and got it. when i was driving home the light wasnt comming on but i did notice the left blinker light and high beam light getting brighter as my rpms went up just in the cluster, and when i use the blinker with the brights on the tach and temp needle go crazy the temp goes to h and the tach jumps around only when the brights are on well when i get home it threw the code . i got a working one and it helped and didnt do the 2 step thing lol but my cars still running like crap. the gas needle is all the way up and works now and again so dont know if the fuel pump or sending unit would having anything to do with it, i hear the pump it sounds strong. im sure it has a short but dont know where to look. just so you guys know the distributor cap and rotor and fuel pump and wires and plugs and o2 have all been replaced so yea i just want to know where should i look i checked the grounding blocksthere good didnt know if the relay next to the grounding block could go bad, i checked all my grounds that i could find the thermostat housing and every were else under the hood. when i tested my tps it read .5 and CT and 3.99 at wot if i used the meter right. what would cause this? the highest it would go is that but then the tps went off .i posted on azht but nothing so thought i would try here , sorry if its too long to read i just want to give you guys the idea thanks again for looking

I had a problem like that but not as bad, I added a couple grounds one straigt from the battery to the valve cover and one straight from the battery to the frame and it cleared it up for me. also if the guy you bought it from put a 90-91 gauge cluster in it the plugs fit but the wiring is different between 88-89 and 90-91 so that can mess with things to.
As for the sputtering try the fuel filter, if that doesn't work try replaceing the fuel pump relay (its up behind the coin holder on the left side of the dash) when they start to go out they can send low voltage to the pump so at higher rps it will cut out and sputter.
