Default Floorboard prep/herculiner

I'm going to put Herculiner truck bed liner on my interior floorpanels. I need to scrape up the sound deadening in the front panels. I saw a thread with someone who put dry ice on the front once. Wondering if thats the method to remove this stuff? Not looking forward to heatgun and putty knife action! Any suggestions?

I guess you apply and let it freeze the material, then break it up with a hammer?
