what a mess
Well last night the wife and I go out to the movies. Had a good time until we get home. We arrive at home and discover that her R w/70k on it had gotten hit.
Guy left his name and number w/ my neighbor. We call the cops they do a report. Guy claims to have insurance w/ nationwide. We call nationwide to file a claim and guess what....He isn't in there system. So he want to pay out of his pocket to fix the damages.
It moved the car about 4-5 feet from where it was parked.
suggestions??

A piller seems to have a dent also

driver side tire is off the wheel

a scenario similar to yours happened to my brothers prelude. he was hit while at a gas pump by a guy with no insurance. but he claimed he had insurance. my brother got a police report, turned it into his insurance company, and they took care of it. And then my brothers insurance company took legal action against the other guy. we don't know what ever happened with it though. this happened last year. So i would suggest contacting your insurance, and giving them the story and send them a copy of the police report and witness statements. And let your insurance company handle the other party.

also its not my R its my wife's
If he left his correct info. /number with your neighbor that is a good sign. Wether the insurance or he pays as long as its done right. I cant imagine leavin my R outside theft or something like that could happen.
thats what we did, but our insurance says that if we turn it in and they find that he has insurance then our rate will go up. after i spoke w/ him today he now claims that he is on his dads company insurance. but nationwide doesn't have a record of his VIN number w/ them at all.

his truck (2500 dodge diesel) got knocked out of gear and it rolled backwards about 125-150 feet and slammed into the caR. we have all state insurance, for the record. We leave the R out side all the time, thats the beauty of living in a very rural part of the world where no one gives a damn if you have a R. its been sitting in that spot for over 3 years now, and this is the only problem we have ever had. hell my 700hp hatch usually is sitting right beside it.
OP, looks like the damage is contained to the door and didn't get into the quarter. Should be an easy fix. Dealing with the insurance company will be the most difficult part of all. Good luck!
i agree that the damage is contained to the door, i'm just really worried about the A piller. another problem is the car is sitting in the rain w/ a trash bag lets just prey that the inside stays dry.
Sucks a$$ to hear good luck !at least it's just the door and not the door jam meeting anywhere to the chassie coulda been alot worse ! but still hella shitty . .. And for it sitting out side getting rained on get a waterproof car cover for it . then she will stay dry inside wit no mold build up .good luck hope damages arent hiddin under the rest of what you cant see till the parts are off .

Sounds like he is willing to cooperate, and compliance with the actor makes everything a little easier. I'm no apraiser, but it looks like a few thousand dollars worth of damage. Replacing the door, blending the paint, the labor, ect. The IR should be in your favor so his insurance paying you for the damages shouldn't be a problem (if he is insured like he said). Get some estimates and let us know, but be careful where you take the car for the repairs. Goodluck
so he told me that the truck is on his dads company insurance. i googled the address on the police report and got this dads phone number. I call to speak w/ his father and the truck isn't on his company's insurance. And his dad didn't know anything about the incident, even though the guy that hit it claims his dad is taking care of everything. Sketchy. And the body shop that will be fixing it is ran by a guy who has a R, so not worried about that at all.
thats where it stays, we have left the car outside and been 8hrs away from home for weeks at a time. once again bueaty of living in a rural area.
was walking the dog and saw this decided you guys may like to see what the R was up against. im so glad the hitch didn't hit it. and this is never where he parks.

Good luck OP hope all works out for you.
That sucks to hear that your ins. company would raise your rates just because you wanna get the car fixed sooner than later. I'd be shopping for a new provider. Especially when your not at fault. You weren't even there!
