Default D16y8 block with a d16z6 head.. timing issues.

Like the title states i have a d16y8 block with a z6 head. It has a d16y8 camshaft and cam gear though. I set the crank to tdc and line all the timing marks up so im pretty positive that the timing is good. When i spin the car over it turns over fine but seems to be backfiring through the intake making me think it is not in time. It also has very weak spark.

Could timing be the issue cause it backfire through the intake?

or

Could the dizzy be bad making it only get fuel and then make it backfire through the intake?

any help would be highly appreciated.

you need to put the z6 timing gear on and time according to that. are u running a p28? if its backfiring it could be that ur ignition timing is too far advanced.
