Idling Problems B16a PLEASE HELP!!!!
i just did my timing and my car starts now but its idling very high. 1000 rpm to 3000 rpm back and forth. i took off all the hoses and put it back together and i even drove it while it was idling and it still didnt do nothing. i am really stuck and dont know what to do. i even warm up the motor but still idles. please help cause i dont know what the problem is anymore. thanks..

The B16 is supposed to idle high until the engine is warm. Mine Idles at around 2000RPM until it is at normal operating temp. and then drops down to 500RPM. If it is off, try adjusting the FIT Valve.
Short Version:
There is a small metal cover on the throttlebody. If looking at TB from air intake side, the cover for the FIT is on the left side near the bottom of the TB. Parallel to your firewall. This cover is held in place by Two 10MM bolts I believe. Once opened unscrew the FIT valve all the way out, disassemble, clean with break cleaner, and screw back in. The tricky part is getting it adjusted correctly. I would initially start out by screwing it in roughly 25%, replace cover, start car and let run til warm. If idles not correct. Screw it in a little further and try again. Repeat until Idle is normal. This is one of the most common idle fixes. But an idle that is off can also be caused by air in the coolant system, PCV System not working correctly, vacuum leaks, several different things. . .

try cleaning:
the IACV on back of Intake Mani. (clean the screen really good and let it dry, then put it back in.)
and the FITV on the bottom of the TB. (unscrew the plate on the side, clean it out. then make sure you screw in the plastic piece. let it dry and put it back on)
i had the exact problem and cleaning the FITV fixed it. there is a write up here on HT that has pics and all the steps to cleaning and doing it correctly. the plastic piece in the FITV needs to be screwed in almost all the way for it to idle correctly. took mine off a couple times, first time it wasnt even screwed in, my idle was between 1200 and 2500. never a steady idle. now its at 800 and steady, no fluctuation. hope this helps!
