Default valve guide porting.

has anyone ever had any problems running b-series head with ported valve guides? i can only find one thread about it and it doesnt really say anything about reliability. just says valves may be loose.

Iv read about people running them without any issues. what tool would work best to cut it down? my die grinder doesn't seem to like the bronze or brass or what ever they are made out of. Im pretty sure I won't have any issues with a non v head due to the smaller intake valves and thicker valve stems.

yes grinding the valve guides flush. my car wont be a daily driver but will make occasional 70 mile trips. its a b16a2 head on a gsr block 9:1 wiseco pistons eagle rods w/ turbo setup. i just posted in the all motor cause its probably more commonly used for all motor?

Not 100% sure about the B series. Question, How much of the guide has actually been removed/ported? If they only stick out 1/4" like the F22A head and you still have 1 1/2" of the guide up inside the head you should be good to go.

F22A head,

Something like this could easily be ground down flush without issue.

I believe B series sticks out at least a 1/2" more then that f22 head.

carbon carbide cutting bits. make sure your die grinder goes up to around 22,000rpm or you can break the teeth off the bits if it's not up to speed.

A lot of guys cut the guides down, and different head porters have different opinions on what should be done, cut or left full length.

The intake guides are 41.7 mm and exhaust are 46.6 mm long so There would be a little Over an inch if they were grinded down. I wouldn't think there would be any play with an inch

I have a GSR head done by Portflow with the exhaust valve guides cut flush. I've been driving it for years w/o any problems. Hopes that helps.
