Default car overheats after driving for 15-20min

the temp. gauge goes up and down after driving for a while.. i see no leaks from the car.. i threw in a gasket selant to see if it had an internal leak, but that didnt work either.

the coolant resovoir is boiling when i pop my hood. the weird thing is when i press on my radiator cap the boiling stops.

i havent flush my radiator when i got it or added new coolant..

could i have air bubbles in my coolant system? radiator cap gone bad? the head gasket again?

help!

it could be just air bubbles in your cylinders. open the cap and park the car somewhat tilted upward like on a drive way and let it run until the air bubbles go out. think of the easy stuff first before replacing anything. might even be a head gasket blown.

Drain all coolant, replace coolant with proper mixture of antifreeze and water for your temperature zone, make 100% sure you have the system completely bled of air, test drive to see if it happens again. It'll cost you all of $20 max for the antifreeze and is a much simpler way to try to fix a problem like this than tearing stuff apart. I had the exact same problem a few weeks ago, probably 10+ people on H-T instantly said "it's your head gasket your car is done broooo blah blah blah". I did exactly what I described above, problem was solved. For some reason these 92-00 Hondas like to get air in them from time to time.

Could be your radiator... Mine used to overheat, I went hard route and did head gasket.. No fix, then did radiator cap, no fix... last I did my radiator and its been good... also check your fan and thermostat.

It goes away when you press the cap because your are pressing the seal down inside and closing off the passage to the over flow. Check your coolant level first. Make sure its topped off. Bleed the system and then start it and see if the lower hose gets hot at operating temp. If not your thermostat is likely gone. If it gets hot check and see if your fan turns on and off. Lets see what the results are..

check thermostat and clean it ( motor thermostat )
check if there is any water pipes leak , Radiator , Fan rpm and if its works every 2 min for 40 s
check redator cap id its totaly closed and get a good aftermarket one o prefer the orginal one
any air bubles in the system should u clear them
and finally
do u have A/C system in ur car if yes
go to any pro mechanical and said to him to close hot pipe A/C cause it can raise up temp ( i did it and it succses )
