well to do it rite and have it turn out super mega smoothe in materials ur lookin at prob 600 dollars at least do it yourself assuming you have the tools and skills to do so. Thats 2k filler primer, base coat, clear coat and body filler to fill dents. on tcp global they have lots of colors to choose from. and its reasonably priced.

What equipment do you have? It sounds like you have very little painting experience, but you are saying you have all the equipment....

OK supplies for primer/surfacer, paint, clear would be around $5-700, depending on what you need and which route you take.

I'm sorry Wdbjr12345, I was referring to the OP, as he said in the first section of the thread that he had all the equipment.

I personally always use Dupont or Nason(a lower line of Dupont). I worked at a shop where we used PPG and i hated it, it doesnt cover anything like dupont and i believe theyre priced higher. Use Nason 2k urethane primer, it covers/sands well. 2-3 coats of primer usually does the job. Base coat i usually go until it looks like its covered, then do one more coat for assurance. Then i usually go with about 3 coats of clear, but that all depends on how heavy you spray it. Just remember with clear "what you see is what you get"...basically if your clear looks dry when you spray it, itll look dry when it dries.

Thanks uncle willie, any info to get started is a great help! so if i were to purchase the 2k primer, Dupont or nason Base, and the Dupont or nason clear. What would i be looking at as far as cost?

Go to oreillys auto parts for the best price on it. Primer with activator is $85, the base coat will depend on the color. I would use Nason base, i know a gallon of millano red was like $220 or so. And I really like nason clear too so i would go with it, they have different activators depending on the use of it(whether your doing a panel or full car). I think the clear is around $150 for a gallon with activator and reducer but dont quote me on that.

Its for the full car, and oreillys carries it!?!

And do you have any pics of what the paint looked like after using Nason Paint?

Yep oreillys carries all sorts of paint supplies but alot of people dont know. One gallon of primer is enough. Youll probably only need about a half gallon of base coat but i would buy a gallon to be on the safe side. And a gallon of clear is plenty.

Yeah i have a pic of a milano red EK i painted a few months back, ill post pics in a few minutes. It took half a gallon of base and a gallon of clear. Ill be painting an EF sedan tomorrow so ill upload pics of it too if i remember to take some.

If i see the kid tomorrow ill get a pic of the car. It could use a good wet sand/buff to make it smooth like glass. It was done with all Nason products. I dont remember the product number for the reducer. And they say to use hardener in nason and dupont base but people rarely do because the hardener is kinda pricey for what you get. I got these results with no hardener in the base. Make sure you mix your primer and clear just like it says on the can though.

Milano Red is a "tri-coat" paint. What happened to the midcoat?
