Hey there.. Okay well I just bought a a 92 civic hatchback and it's got a b18b1 ls with vtec. Well my problem is it doesn't idle under 1000 rpm's and once it's warmed up it idles from about 800 to 1400 rpm's.. Doesn't anyone know what it is or mite be that's not working right? Thanks alot!!!

 

Check your IACV. Are you saying the idle surges between 800 and 1400 rpms?

 

theres a screw hole right by your throttle body,, try turning that down first before doing the Iac,, if the idle is set too high,, it makes your engine surge up and down like what its doing now... the screw hole is on top of your tb and is adjusted with a flathead..

Yes. The idle was way to high! Turning the idle down fixed the rpm jumping from 800 to 1400 rpm's.. But it still not idling under 1000 rpm's!! I thought it fixed it but it's still idling at about 1,100!!

 

Also the guy I bought the car from said it hard a " 1000 rmp stall on it",is there even such a thing? Ive never heard of that!!

 

hmmm,, next thing to check,, the throttle cable... put your foot UNDER the throttle and push upwards,,, just in case you have a too tight cable,, your idle will drop if you put the throttle pushing towards you...
