ABS Delete review
So I have been rebuilding my R for some time now. I'm not a big fan of abs and considered getting rid of it. Well my motor was out of the car and was very easy to do at the time. I used a civic si 40/40 prop. valve and integra rs lines. It took me about an hour to do at the time. well now I have put my motor in and got the car running. I have no complaints and personally like the car without the abs. this is only a weekend driver and will not see snow or rain but I dont think it would give me a problem if it rains as i got caught in the rain the other day and the car stopped fine. I have lightened it up a bit and believe i have shaved off approx. 250 pounds. If your motor is in your car you would def need to remove the intake manifold but it is not difficult at all. Just sharing my experience with fellow owners.

My abs is out and I'm considering putting it back in. I noticed at the track you can brake later and therefore carry more speed into the turns. Just my opinion.
Granted people have differing opinions on this and by no means do I think mine is right, I don't use ABS on track but I've found it a few times and I like to use it as a safe indicator to let me measure my braking amounts/zones. But I do not "use" it as a fall back device to help me out.
Either way unless you're experienced I'd say keep it in, not worth the saved weight or having to put it back in when the next owner wants it there.
Sorry. I thought people might get confused it did not specifiy. I have shaved off about 250lbs total weight from the vehicle including the abs. lighter car shorter stopping distance.

I removed heat, ac, ps, abs, carbon hood lexan hatch window. no radio or speakers lighter wheels both air bags and prob missing some things. I dont consider removing abs a hack job all the pieces were oem replacement just personal preference. not too worried about resale.
If you havn't dropped the inner bumpers yet, that would def be a nice reduction. If it's caged, def look into lightening up the doors. Lots of weight to pull out of those.
The ABS on the ITR was one of the best systems made during that time, and I still think it is superior to many ABS systems on the market still. It was tuned very nice and did not go into "ice mode" like many of the other systems did. It also didn't wig out when you aggressively left-foot braked.
Honestly, I see no reason to remove it. It will make you a better/faster driver 90% of the time.
What you are experiencing, OP, is overall lighter weight. It is not directly a result of removing the ABS. Don't make people believe that it is.

you misunderstood. i never said the stopping distance was shortened because of removing the abs. I only stated that I lightened the vehicle so the stopping distance should be better. Im not trying to make any one believe anything I was just giving my experience. Some people are comfortable with the abs and some are not. Im just not a fan of it.

might be the best compact car system though
as for you guys saying you're not "comfortable" you either can't drive or are never pushing a car hard enough to notice. i'm sorry but if you trail brake an apex abs is the difference between maximum braking and sliding across the track
the only type of racing abs is basically worthless at and will likely slow you down is in a snow rally
Remember that Realtime left the stock ABS system on the car the first couple of years they campaigned the ITR in World Challenge (and they won with it). OP might learn something from that...
I never really said it was the best of the best. And comparing it to a $50K ZR1 is a testament in itself, no? I just said it was dang good and anyone who thought they were "better" are just fooling themselves. Still, a good performance ABS system on a FWD car is way more difficult to achieve than good ABS on a RWD car.

if you're not faster with abs it just shows your driving skills are lacking, you have a mental block or haven't been taught how to use the system correctly
