I've been trying to find out why my car won't start for a few days now and as I was looking in the IM i found this. What is it?

Its a 96 Civic D16Y6

 

Looks like an end to a PCV Valve.

 

Here is the top of it.

 

first pic might of looked like pcv,

but 2nd pic does not look like a pcv

 

Looks like a pintle of some sort? IACV?

 

It's not a pcv valve, it looks like there's kind of a injector type connector on the top with two wires going threw it to the bottom.

 

ever think it could be something that just landing there somehow someway..


is your engine running funny now or what

 

hope its not the intake air temp sensor. How the hell it got sucked in to the manifold ....? Probably fell in during removel of intake tube. Do you have a cai or stock airbox..?

 

its the end to your intake air temp sensor.

 

the end part does kinda look like it, but where is the top connector piece...? who knows

try taking some better pics, if your still concerned

 

thats kinda what im leanin towards too... Is it plastic ?

 

It's an aftermarket Autozone special intake arm. Would this cause it not to start?

 

I believe its plastic.

 

if it is the ia temp . Then that is not your problem... All that will do is cause the fuel mix to be off. Should stay open loop and read off the built in fuel map. The rest of it is probably still in your intake tube or connected to the harness near the throttlebody. Somebody in a rush ?

 

does the y6 have a air flow meter before the throttlebody? I only know the y8 honda.

 

when you turn your key in II postilion are all the dash lights on? and can u hear the fuel pump priming?

 

Definitely wont now that the intake has been ripped off . Lol

Looks to be a foreign object of some sort. Possibly some sort of plug, but I don't believe it's part of the stock intake, I've never seen anything like it before.

his manifold is on, his intake arm is off

 

wow... Cause i could have swore that IM stood for intake manifold. ........Then he probably forgot to unplug the intake temp sensor when he ripped the cai from the engine. Hence the part in the intake TUBE/PIPE/ARM/ETC. .................................................. .........

 

The intake mani is on, I found that part looking threw the throttle body. Yes, I can hear the fuel pump priming and the dash lights are on.

 

Spark at the plugs? CEL codes?

 

looks like the plug that goes into intakes that have the hole for the iat sensor
