Default B20 vtec question

I'm a serious newb I'm 18 this is my first car/ swap I'm tryna put a motor together an I'm on a budget I want to go b20 vtec jus a b20 block with a b16 head and GSR tranny with some headers, straight pup , an clutch. My question is wat b20 block should I go with? I heard mad different **** I'm Planning on keepin it all motor an stock internals for the most part. Wat would be better low or high comp. Also should I be leaning towards an ls block?

I guess I'll be the first. 1. Search... there's a lot of info about this swap and the differences between the b20 motors... 2. low compression vs high it depends on what you want to do. If you are staying stock internals high compression motor would be better.

most b20s come from crv which are all automatic for the most part.

Go with a mild B20 build and try not to kill yourself. Seriously, you'll want to do 2 things: 1) beat the hell out of the motor until it breaks and 2) prove that you're invincible. Anyways, that's what I would have done but having a lower power motor did me a lot of good. A mild B20 VTEC build would still be over 200whp, plenty of torque, and a lot of fun to drive. After you've beat on that for a while then do a serious build. Trust me, a B20 VTEC setup is pretty stout. Get brakes first.

IMO your choice of exhaust is too small. 2.5 is good for a B18 (barely), but a B20 VTEC needs a little more.

he said stock bottom end and stock b16 head he is def not gonna reach 200whp let alone over 200whp. i would go with a gsr head if you have the cash, you will have better compression and better cams

Indeed. Get a 3" exhaust and get a muffler. All these kids and their straight pipes.

They make straight throughs. You wouldn't notice the difference and it would calm the sound down a bit. A resonator would help too. I can't stand 100+db street cars. They're bad hearing them from the outside, i would die driving that.

the b16 isnt the best head due to less compression and smaller cams if your going with a stock head and block

plus that small amount of flow on top end thats not even noticeable that the b16 head flows over the gsr head, isnt worth getting the b16 instead of the gsr, so what you heard was false

the b16 would only be better because usually they are easier to find and cost less then a gsr head

x2 on the gsr head will make more power vs a stock b16.

IMO the head difference is not that important for your build. Get what's available and you can always upgrade the cams. GSR cams will make more HP than B16.
