Default Odds and ends to accomplish before swap(Q's about fluids, belts, and misc.)

I am about to swap in a 99-00 b16a2 into my 97 dx hb. Got some questions to wrap things up.

In the manual it says to replace a ton of washers. Do I need to order these from Honda as well? OR do I just go buy appropriate metric washers?

I guess I am going to be draining pretty much all the fluids before the swap? Any suggestions on what to replace them with (obviously the corresponding fluid )? I guess the question is do I need aftermarket stuff, or if need is the incorrect term whether I will see any benefit from using upgraded tranny oil or similar.

Also as long as the linkage is out of the car I would like to get a short shifter. Any suggestions on brands?

to avoid ANY problems - use Honda stuff only,

eg Honda "crush washers"

Honda MTF, Honda coolant, Honda filters.

but if you think you can get better than Honda, go for it. (i dont think i can, but i am in Australia - the US might have some better aftermarket stuff...)

but anyways,

good luck! i hope you dont need too much
