Where to mount oil pressure sending unit
I have an Autometer oil pressure gauge setup with the sending unit that goes under the hood and an electric gauge for inside the car. I have some braided hose to go from the block to the sending unit. Should I mount the sending unit somewhere on the block or should I mount it on the firewall? The hose is flexible, but this motor sees a lot of vibration. The last time I hooked this up I used copper tubing and mounted the sending unit on the block. The copper tubing vibrated until it broke, losing all my oil. I will be connecting this to where the stock oil pressure switch is currently.
i always use a sandwich adapter for the oil pressure sender, and whatever else i need oil related - it mounts between the oil filter and the oil flange or cooler on the block.
most have 2-3 holes for various items to be attached (holes can be blocked off if not needed) and can be had cheap on ebay - BWR or other knock-offs.
i've tried the tubing/remote location route, and have never liked the way it worked or looked, or the longevity... mych happier with the sandwich adapters.

same. never had a problem with cylinder type sending units with the 1/8 npt threads on one end. if you use the copper tubing you should put a set of curls in it like a spring to absorb vibrations.
