So I picked up a gun and cabinet just the other day along with some medium soda material. It works great I love it did some small items and all I can say is WOW. Its perfect for light rust removal/cleaning as well as paint removal on small delicate parts such as door handles. However im looking into a heavier duty paint/powder coating removal media maybe something that has less dust as it gets hard to see into the blast cabinet.
What im looking at cleaning/removing is wheel coatings, brackets, as well as brake parts. It worked well on a spare caliper I had but on a set of carriers it didn't seem to do anthony to it. I've already done a little bit of reading on the subject as well as saw some info on other forums but there is a lot of different info and a lot more in terms of abbrassive media! Its an overwhelming bit of information.
Id be happy if anyone can recommend a heavier duty abrassive media one that will remove coatings from hard metals as well as one for softer metals so as not to damage the item being blasted or if anything a twofer deal in media.
Thanks for any insight/information in advance!

I have personally been happy with a 50/50 mix of fine glass bead and Black Beauty (black coal stuff) for heavier coatings. It did well removing the OEM clear from a set of aluminum wheels as well as other painted automotive parts.
Walnut shells mixed w/glass are also good. I used to blast huge military vehicles for the National Guard and they used exclusively shells/glass for all that old thick CARC paint.

Thanks for the input I never thought about mixing materials. But as a service member I think I may try the shells/glass you mentioned.
Anyone else have any comments/suggestions!??

Yeah, you'll find it's hard to get exactly what you want from 1 type of media, but mixing them works out very nicely. Good luck with your build

Very true and thanks for the insight and luck. I have a LONG way to go on this build haha im thinking about blasting the undercarriage but not looking forward to the mess it would create at home lolz
Just FYI going through the rustproof on the bottom is going to eat up TONS of media, air, and your time. Give it a shot, because every job is different, but it will probably be very time consuming.
