Most likely a bit of rust causing the piston to stick and not return when you lift your foot.

Our project, a 96 GSR, had been sitting in the driveway waiting since 2002. The rear brakes were so 'frozen' from rust my son and I couldn't push the car.

I went to the local Cost-Less auto and picked up calipers, rotors, and pads.

In your case, you may need to replace all three depending upon wear. In theory, you can repair/replace the components but the calipers are fairly inexpensive at a discount parts store and the time required to swap them is a half hour or so if you're a plodder.

Most challenging part was getting those two screws off the rotors. I broke bits on two impact screwdrivers before I settled upon drilling the screws to remove them.

Good luck

Are both pads wearing or just one? Check the caliper for free motion on the slider pins.

Sounds like a sticking rear caliper. I had one do that and did not notice until I walked by my left rear wheel and could feel intense heat coming off the wheel itself. I just picked up a rebuilt one at Auto Zone for like $50 and its been fine.

my ebrake isnt misadjusteed. its only the right rear brake pad that is wearing out, the other side is fine. Yeah and there is alot of heat coming off of the wheel after a drive.

From a little researching it seems like there is something wrong with the caliper.
