Default What other model shifter cables will work on an EP3? (please help)

Hello,

I have come here because the left side shift cable linkage (1s, 3rd, 5th gear) on my 02 EP3 has decided to call the quits and needs replacing. I contacted my local dealer and it costs and arm and a leg for a pair of OEM EP3 shifter cables, extremely overpriced. Before I have to buy brand new OEM cables I would like to know if any other model Honda shares the same cables with the EP3?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

- Steven

I don't believe any other cables would work. I'd get a used set from a junkyard or someone parting out a totalled ep.

yup....never seen them wear out before....have you checked to see if its hooked up right?....they kinda have to twist into place, one could have popped out of its holder under the dash.

Ya I thought it was odd as well, everything under the dash is all hooked up properly, nothing is visibly broken. On the shifting mechanism in the engine bay, again nothing is broken. The problem is when the car is put into a gear, it won't shift back out into neutral. Only 2nd, 4th and Reverse can be shifted into and 1st, 3rd, and 5th cannot. So then we took it all apart and noticed that the left side shifter cable won't push the mechanism back into neutral or into 1st 3rd or 5th.

It's all still connected but the only thing I thought it could be was the cable under the shielding is compromised.

No there is a good distance between it and the intake, why do you ask?

pull the center consol, thats pretty the only way you can check the lock in place for the shift cables.
