Default Surging B16A...paid lots to fix...still a issue

My 91 CRX has a B16A 1st gen converted to an OBD1. I paid a local shop a butt load of money to help me with my save a CRX cause, and still thousands of dollars later I have a better running B16A, but it surges like crazy. I get the normal high rpm idle at start up that settles into a surging from 1k to 2k then as the engine heats up to normal operating temperatures the idle runs from 1k to 1.5k, and the shop put iacv, tps, complete tune up, replaced the dizzy 3 times, wire harness re-fab, and then I purchased a chiped computer from a company in FL. They sent my a P28 chipped with an 4k Vtec (way early and way hard with a little bog), o2 delete, 92k redline with fuel cut off and 2 stage launch. In order to pass emissions here in TN I needed a stock chip for the ecu. I ordered the stock ecu chip, passed marta, but still the surging. I don't know what else to do. Any help or advice would be awesome!

Thanks

Fast idle thermo valve and adjust the idle on the throttle body. I would clean the iacv also but if it is new it may be ok.

Thanks for the advice guys. I will be trying those ideas out this weekend. I appreciate the help so much. I can't seem to find many people in TN that are even remotely familiar realistically about the B16A. Thank you.

Chuck.

okay. I have cleaned the IACV to be sure, and I have a new chip for the ecu on order with a MAP...which was evidently deleted from even the stock chip...kinda weird.

How do I burp my coolant lines? I have been told by a few people recently that I should bleed my coolant, but other than the drain nipple on the bottom of the radiator....I am a lil unsure as to where to bleed or burp my coolant.

Thanks for all your help guys!

Chuck

The problem is with the fast idle valve (below the throttle body). If you unscrew the two screws on the cover you will see a plunger looking thing. Screw that in clockwise until it stops, then reinstall the cover. Problem solved.

The FITV is deleted (still attached, but no vacuum to it) I was told they (Bill's Import Clinic her in Murfreesboro - the only Honda Master Mechanic here unless I drive to Nashville) did a FITV delete due to the OBDO to OBD1 conversion. (YES HE IS A HONDA MASTER TECHNICIAN, BUT MY CAR STILL DIDN'T RUN RIGHT AFTER I PAID HIM OVER $4K IN LABOR AND $2K IN PARTS TO: REWIRE MY ECU, TUNE UP, SURGING ISSUE, BRAKES, LINKAGE, TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT, ETC....) So you can see why I am so upset with this issue still happening. He told me the IACV was brand new, and it would take a little time for it to work itself out then would run right. Now 3 months after I get it out of his shop it is still surging. I am SO FRUSTRATED.

I just ordered a brand spanking NEW TPS from BLOX 3 days ago. A friend of mine disconnected the TPS while the car was running (surging up and down from 1200 rpms to 2k), and 3 to 4 seconds went by before it revved super hard up past 6+ grand before I shut the car off. He told me that my TPS was bad, and that was the cause of the surging.

Tell me what you think. I am still a super newb when it comes to the whole surging issue.

I have burped my coolant, but for some reason I am having to add some coolant before I drive it every-time. I don't have any puddles forming under the car, and unless it is coming out while I am on the IS or something I am dumbfounded as to why I am using so much coolant. The gauge inside reads normal operating temperature?!

So recap:

P28 ecu chipped
OBD0 to OBD1 conversion
FITV deleted (but still attached to IM - just no lines attached...well blocked off)
NEW IACV
NEW DIZZY
NEW TPS (en route to me by Monday or Tuesday at the latest)
Coolant Burped (but antifreeze keeps going MIA)

Please help...

Thank you guys...

Chuck
