Default GS-R Oil Issue

So I made a thread about this before and I'm still trying to find a resolution.

My car has progressively gotten worse and is now consuming about a quart of oil every 750 miles. About a year ago a quart would be consumed every 1100 miles I would say.

My car is a 00 GS-R with about 125k and has just basic bolt-ons.

I have changed the pcv valve and 02 sensor hoping that would help my problem.

The car used to blow out black smoke but that stopped when I changed the 02 sensor. Now when I rev it or gun it there is no smoke coming from the tail pipe. The car also feels like it has the same power it did years ago.

I see absolutely no oil on the driveway after the car has been sitting there.

The car really has no symptoms of the engine going besides the ridiculous amount of oil it consumes. It drives like it is brand new to tell you the truth.

The temp gauge moves like a teeny bit but never even comes close to overheating or anything and it has been doing this since I bought it over three years ago.

My coolant looks clean and the car doesn't consume any of it. My oil is extremely black, so I was told that would rule out a head gasket being bad.

I imagine if my rings were fried the car would run bad and lose much of its power.

I'm at the point where I might get a new car because I don't want this one to randomly die one day and then I'll be stuck in a bind.

I'm going to try and bring the car to a shop this week to have a compression test and leakdown test done. Maybe that will tell me whats going on.

I'm hoping someone can give me some guidance with this issue.

Thx

its most likely bad valve seals or bad piston rings

Valve seals and/or oil control rings. You can have solid compression and still burn oil if the oil rings are not sealing. B series Vtec motors all burn oil to an extent, especially if you're hitting Vtec on a regular basis.

Will I be able to diagnose bad valve seals with a leakdown test?

Is there any way to diagnose bad oil control rings?

I read in another thread that running auto-rx or a similar product may help the oil control rings if they are all coated with carbon.

Seems vtec motors valve stem seals go bad around 100k. That's my bet. Even replaced ones go bad after 100k. My motors got 260 on both of them and about to need new ones cuz the oils starting to disappear. Just a lil tho. It won't do any damage like that, but you should fix it.
