s1 tranny and gsr motor?
Gathering all the parts for a bseries swap into my ef.
Is there any negatives to running this transmission?
Im really not wanting to deal with all the hydro swap mess right now but is that a better option?
For now the motor is just rebuilt close to stock but if any real power is going to be made will this trans still be a viable option?

The S1 is a weak transmission and hard to get parts for. If you want to stay with a cable style trans, go with a 1992-1993 YS1. The YS1 came with the LS gear ratio, B16 close ratio, and B17 GSR ratio. The GSR and B16 YS1 are about the same except for 1st gear. If you can't find a B16/B17 YS1, you can install the internals from a hydro unit in the YS1 cases.
I have a s1 in my crx boosted right now on low boost 350hp and have had no problems have had several hard launches its not lsd which is causing me problems im wanting to put a lsd in it im not sure bout being weak because i abuse the **** outa mine for 3 years now from drag slicks to street tires at the track
Ha! I have an S1 that could be considered ol' reliable. Out of all the transmissions I've had through the years it is the one trans that hasn't broken. I do however know how weak the design and parts in it are.
The reason the S1 is weaker than the later cable YS1 is due to smaller synchros and smaller gears. It is a good transmission but the YS1 B16 is a stronger option with available replacement parts. Recently American Honda discontinued offereing the S1 sleeve sets for 3-4 and 5th gears. These parts are still available from Japan but it is difficult to get them these days.
