CTR pistons in B16 VS CTR pistons in B18c. Hp differance?
Anybody know the hp difference between a B16 with ctr pistons VS a B18c with ctr pistons? Assuming everything else was equally stock? I am trying to justify the price between B16 $100-$200 and b18c shortblock $700-1000?
b18 handsdown. CTR pistons will also give you a higher compression ration in a B18 then a B16.
My JDM ITR pistons in my Type R block is slightly higher compression ratio (11.1 to 1) then a B16 block with CTR pistons - 10.8 - 1 I believe.
With CTR pistons in a B18 you get 12 to 1

Well, I'm not exactly sure what the real HP difference is between the two, but stock motor vs. stock motor with those pistons yields a 10.8:1 compression ratio in the B16A (10.2:1 stock), and a 12:1 compression ratio in the B18c1 (10:1 stock). The b18c1 would be better for street/auto-x due to more torque. You'll also see the most HP gains out of the b18c1, at the cost of higher octane fuel (possibly needing higher than pump gas).
so a CTR piston in the B18C with a B16 head will yeild what compression? 12:1??? or lower? what about stock B16 pistons (PR3)????

I dont know much about this stuff but from what I have heard GSR heads have smaller combustion chambers, resulting in higher compression.
