Speakers stopped working
Okay so last night my sub stopped working but my amp had power. While that was happening my speakers were still working. This morning I go to start my car and no sound comes from any of the speakers and the amp is still powered. What could the problem be? Thanks and any help is appreciated.
What is the make and model of the amp?
Are the "speakers" also wired to the amp?
What kind/type of fuse is in the amps power lead?
Have you checked the amps ground cable, is amp grounded properly?
Need answers to all the above to even begin troubleshooting. 94

Then you have two problems...
For the sub amp I would start by checking the sub and it's wiring, disconnect the subs speaker leads from the amp, using a 9V batt., touch the terminals of the batt. to the speaker leads of the sub, the sub should "pop", if not you will have to remove sub from cabinet and check the wiring to the sub, if it looks good, touch the terminals of the 9V batt. to the subs terminals, the sub should "pop", if sub is not poping it is "blown", [open VC].
If all of that is good, [sub "pops"] try replacing the glass fuse in sub amps power cable, even if it looks good.
For the speakers it may be the HUs protection circuit that has turned off the HUs internal amp because of short on the output(s), [speaker terminals or speaker leads may by shorting out] you will need to pull the HU and check the speaker lead connections at that end and use a meter to test the leads, [going to the speakers ]for a short to ground or each other. 94

no neccesarily, my old car i had a wire grounding out on the door metal next to my speaker which sent my deck into protection mode. i fixed the short and my deck worked properly, look at the wires behind your deck and by your door speakers. im almost sure theres a short somewhere. while youre behind your deck unplug the speakers one speaker at a time and see if it comes back on
