2000 honda civic ex... d16y7 swap
I have a 2000 honda civic ex and it has a d16z6 engine. I am unable to pass inspection because I am throwing many codes due to the fact that I have no knock sensor, ckf sensor, and many other reasons. My plan is to put in a new engine which is compatible with a obd2b wiring harness and p2p ecu. I am not sure what all is original under the hood, but I want to know what will be necessary to put in a d16y7 block with a d16y8 head considering that this car is designed for a d16y8 engine with vtec. I am not sure if the transmission is the original.
That shouldn't be an issue, right? The car I might pull it out of is a manual and I have an automatic, but I am only taking the block. Any issues there? Also, they are both 2000's, so my wiring harness should work fine for that block. I know I will need to buy a knock sensor. What about a ckf sensor? Does the d16y7 have one? Anyways, if I begin this swap, I will buy the other car, not just the engine, so I won't have to worry about possible dizzy, manifold, timing issues, but is there any advice I can get? Will the ecu be ok with this setup?
Anyone? If you had a 2000 civic ex with no engine, would you put in a y7 if you had a y8 vtec head to put on it? The y7 is out of a manual trans. and your civic is an automatic. Will everything work well?
