d16z6 to 3 stage d15b
the 5spd ecu will run you $200 from hmotors...and no you cannot use the auto ecu on 5spd, I forget why exactly, something about being in park. But if it worked, nobody would bother finding the rare 5spd ecu. Water pump and timing belt should work.
Why are you getting a 3-stage VTEC engine.? It's not a direct replacement nor will it make you any faster.
Is this you? Are you creating new accounts?

jestin, once again, you will have to get the correct ecu in order for the 3 stage vtec to work properly. An auto ECU will not work on a manual setup. Good luck finding a manual 3 stage vtec ecu. People have already told you that they are rare. Rare, in case you don't know, means hard to find.

grumblemarc, although I agree with you, it seems like you're wasting your breath cause OP seems determined to go 3 stage vtec. In previous posts, it has been said that finding a manual ecu for this setup is going to be darn near impossible, but yet the OP persists. Sometimes you have to let people fail in order for them to learn the lesson you were trying to help them learn without pain.

It does get good mpgs.....mine gets 40+ city driving. I got below 30mpg city driving in the same car with my y7. But the y7 was old and beat up, my d15b was fresh from japan. There are many more factors that affect mileage than the motor. If you're looking to save money, look elsewhere. OP, the reason I got my d15b is because I couldn't afford a B when my y7 kicked the bucket, and I needed the cheapest swap from hmotors that I'm hoping will last me a long time. The mileage is a nice perk, but 3/4 the time I drive hitting vtec and then I only get about 30mpg.
The auto ecu will work in a manual car. You just have to remove a resistor or what not, and bam you have it working CORRECTLY for the manual.

why would you run obd2, that's the lamest thing i've ever heard. no tuning options, and why didn't you state obd2. LOL!
you can convert one obd2 board to manual that i know of....
OBD2 P5 MAuto Manual = Converting a 97-01 H22A Prelude PCM from auto to manual

djslim - the 3 stage vtec also came out in 95 so this could be obd1 as well. as you know 95 was the last year for obd1. so really in theory a obd1 ecu exist with the wiring circuit for the 3 stage.

i think your best bet is to switch over to the AEM UNIT, and just program the unit for the 3rd stage vtec. I don't think it's possible with the stock units. Unless this uber rare 95 ecu exist.

Stage 3 vtec on a obd1 chipped ECU.
So I think it’s possible to program the 3 stage vtec off of a Honda obd1 ecu. I think you could either trigger the solenoid off the ac switch or enable the secondary throttle body butterflies like the p72 gsr computer uses. Well it’s a thought.

so you hit your head and forgot your info and started a new account...w/ this account you want to swap a z6 for a jdm d15b, but w/ your other account you have a y8 and wanna swap for a d15b???? Your making several useless threads about the same topic...IMO you are so full of ****. You have no car, your >15 yrs old, you like hondas, and somehow stumbled onto h-t and continue making an *** out of yourself. Good job buddy!
