1997 Accord LX - 3 speakers "dead"
Stock speakers. Stock head unit (also swapped it with a new Pioneer to see if the head unit was bad, but nothing improved/changed)... The only functioning speaker is the passenger side front speaker. Both rear speakers suddenly stopped working months ago and now the driver's side front speaker is out as well.
I checked the fuses, but did not find anything wrong. My guess is wiring but I am a newbie and do not know where to begin. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You can test the rear speakers pretty easily by opening the trunk, disconnecting the speakers, and connecting a 9V battery across the terminals. Or, you can use a multimeter and check the ohms value on the speaker - it should be around 4ohms. Both of my rear speakers suddenly died, and it was just because they were old and crappy speakers.
The speakers aren't fused, so don't worry about checking that again.

Thanks for the quick response kegobeer... If the speakers are still properly functioning what should occur when I connect a 9V battery across the terminals?
Thanks again...

Sounds like either a wire / connection problem, or somebody has been messing around with the fade / balance settings on your radio.
First, double check the fade & balance settings. Maximize / minimize both, one at a time, to put the sound from one speaker to another to verify which speakers aren’t getting power. Assuming the back ones are still not giving off any sounds, disconnect them and reconnect them, see what happens. If they suddenly start working, do the same with your driver’s door speaker. If not, try taking out the radio again, disconnecting it from the harness. Then reconnect it.
And this would be a good time to replace your speakers – for $100 or less you can pick up four nice speakers. Go to www.crutchfield.com and see what fits and find some speakers you like. Then check eBay for the same speakers, or do a google search to see who else is selling them (like Amazon).
