I got the car to run around the neighborhood today but the check engine light was on. It was sending a code 4 on the ecu. then I tried to get the car to burnout in first gear, the car stalled and died and now refuses to start. every time I check the ecu it changes the codes from before. first it was just code 4. then 1,3,5,6 now its 1,8,9 or whatever and still wont start

Didnt have any "electrical" problems when I first started the car or ever. almost all the engine harness wiring is stock so I dont know how it could be wrong
well, majority of your ECU codes are distributor related. im not saying you did it wrong, but check to make sure the wiring is still good.
this is one of the MAIN reasons i use all brand new wiring and terminals. i dont like to trust 20yr old wires.

Im not questioning you Im trying to figure out the problem too. what could have changed between when the car first fired up until when it stalled out and refused to start? how do I know if its the distributor wiring also
Did you have to do an MPFI swap on the car for the b18? or is it already an HF/SI? if you had to do an MPFI swap, my money is on you messed up the distributor wiring or some of your work came loose..

I just dont know how stalling the car out would cause wiring to fail. I followed a how to mpfi here on ht and used shielded wire for the dizzy wiring. all I can think of that could possibly be wrong is when I connected two pieces of shielded I think I accidentally covered the unshielded inner wire with the shielding, before insulating that inner wire. but like I said nothing except a cel and code 4 was wrong until the car stalled out
yeah, you definitely have to wire in CYP and CKP.. otherwise your distributor will be missing 2 important wires your ECU is looking for. and it will throw a code..
