Default Really quick question about timing

Is this how timing is suppose to be done (pay close attention to the yellow, white, pink lines)? The middle mark aligned with the V shapped thing.
AND
What is considered "advancing" or "retarding" timing

Your Yellow mark is +2 degrees (advanced) from TDC and the red mark is -2 degrees (retarded) from TDC. The white mark is +0 degrees or "dead on" as people like to say.

Are asking about ignition timing or mechanical timing?

The one where you turn the disty, not the crank shaft
