96-00 Civic RCA kit concerns
Hello all!
I have a 96 Civic CX hatchback. Suspension specs are KYB AGX shocks with Neuspeed Race springs. No camber kits, etc.
Within the next couple weeks 99-00 Civic Si front LCA's + Civic Si front sway bar will be installed.
I have been reading up on the roll center adjusting kits. My main concern is the front UCA coming in contact with the shock towers. If I've read correctly, this mainly happens when the cars are "slammed".
So question, anyone else with a similar spring set up have this issue? I have no problems with my current OEM ball joints, and I feel bad removing them and installing these new extended ball joints if I'm going to have issues.
Second- Hardrace or Buddy Club? I think I saw Mfactory ones too? Not sure how I feel about the zerk fittings though.
Any comments or guidance will be appreciated! Thanks!

I think the OEM balljoints have the best clearance. I would try to stick with them. Also, Keep an eye on the AGX because I had some on H&R sport springs and they blew in about a year.
I will agree the oem units have the best clearance.I am currently using the S2 adjustable front arms and my car is moderately dropped and my shock towers are being repaired as we speak due to them hitting badly.
So did you have the extended ball joints or no? But that sucks either way. Is your car super low or what?
Oem units and no my car isnt really low at all. There really isnt that much room in there.I have heard of people smashing the towers pretty badly on an all oem setup that has been dropped very low.I cant speak from personal experience on that though just what I have read and heard
lshatch98, he's probably having them extended.
matt96ex, i have a similar setup, 99ex kyb agx w/ sprint extreme springs (3.25" drop). my uca have hit my strut towers and i need to have mine fixed, it seems like it only hits though when i run over a pot hole or something.. (sadly, i cant avoid them all...)
from what i've read on the extended ball joints, those dont cure this problem, if anything they make it slightly worse...
extended balljoints are 0.75" longer, which is enough to space the lower arms down creating more space between the lower and upper arm which might bring the upper arm closer to the tower just a hair, but also adjusting the roll centre, and the result is better cornering / less bump steer
the only way to prevent the uca from hitting the strut tower is to either raise the vehicle some or extend the strut towers. they recommend using coilovers with these so you can adjust ride height.
hope that helps.
