I just bought a 91 Accord LX for $600, it a exact color/model/year match to the original Accord I drove and have parked with a major engine problem. My plan is to use the good parts from my original to fix the new one.
At any rate, I've already resolved a rough running issue, and now its time to fix the Tranny and Clutch. You can't shift the transmission into 3rd, and the clutch feels like jello compared to the crisp firmness of my original Accord. This morning when I got in the car the clutch pedal had dropped to the floor and only functioned after I pulled it up.
The master cylinder has plenty of fluid in it, although I have made no attempts to bleed it.
My original plan when I bought this car was to swap out the Tranny, and in the process replace clutch disc and plate as needed. But now I am really wondering what all is going on here? Is the whole Transmission problem only a clutch problem, or does the whole shebang need work as I suspect. I've got all the parts to swap out all the clutch system components, and a good tranny, and several days of time to do it.
Any ideas?

More research has led me to believe that the 3rd gear syncro has gone out and the tranny needs to be replaced, the clutch must be a unrelated problem.
Time to go get my hands dirty.................

Yep, I've already got the car up on jackstands and blocks, gonna drop the tranny, replace the clutch pressure plate, my functioning slave cylinder will come with the working tranny, and then I'll swap the master cylinder as well............gonna be a long afternoon.
